Pienza is considered an
ideal Renaissance creation, a project conceived by Pope Pius II in the early 15th century. Of his beloved city, the central Piazza is the biggest attraction. It would be difficult to find a more charming town anywhere. A pedestrian-friendly town, Pienza has some extraordinary views from its walls and boasts many pleasant shops, featuring the regional specialties – Pecorino cheese, above all else, but also wines, truffles, pastas and preserves.Almost better than the town, is the road that takes you there. It traverses some of the most beautiful Tuscan landscapes you will ever see! Other lovely towns worth seeing in the vicinity are: San Quirico and Bagno Vignoni, a spa town built on
thermal springs and where the main piazza will truly surprise and delight you. The Hotel Posta Marcucci’s thermal pool is open to the public. An afternoon swim costs 7 euros and while the thermal waters relax you, the views will awe you.Pienza is a 90-minute drive from El Marsam, through some of the most picturesque of Tuscan landscapes.
