Gubbio is a tangle of twisting streets, medieval alleyways, fairytale crenellations, and lovely views of the Umbrian countryside. And if this is not enough, the romantic ruins of its
Roman amphitheater can been seen from the panoramic terrace of its main piazza. Gubbio is proud of its patron saint, St. Ubaldo and this quiet town bursts open with spectacular color and noise for one of the region’s most deeply traditional festivals. The town also boasts its own school of painting, a distinct ceramic tradition and very fine leatherwork. It is home to the world’s largest Christmas tree and it is where St. Francis tamed the wolf! The famous Corso dei Ceri, one of the biggest festivals in the region is held annually on May 15. There are classical music concerts in the grassy ruins of the Roman theater in July, a White Truffle Festival at the end of October and an antiques market on the third weekend of every month. The weekly market is held on Tuesday.Gubbio is a 30-minute drive from El Marsam.
