El Marsam to Florence Airport

Summary:
 Time to Florence Sud Exit (with no major delays): 1 hour 45 minutes.
 Time to airport (with no major delays): 2 hours 15 minutes.

 Several stations on the  autostrada open on Sundays to fill up your rental car.

Leave El Marsam with odometer set at 0.

Go down the hill from El Marsam and go into town. At the Stop sign/intersection turn left. When you come to the traffic circle, go ¾ the way around it (essentially a left turn), heading up the hill on Via Roma. You will come to a Y in the road. You continue straight up the hill. There is a Yield sign at the Y. The street name changes to Via Novara. You then come to a T in the road and a Yield sign. Turn right. You will pass newly built apartments on your left.

At 3.5 kms,  turn left, following the sign to Cittá di Castello and Cesena. You will go down a ramp and merge into E45 heading north. You will see signs for Cittá di Castello Sud at about 18 kms. Do not take this exit for Cittá di Castello. Continue heading north. The signs will read Cittá di Castello Nord 6 kms.

At 25.0 kms,  exit for Cittá di Castello. This is the northern exit for the city. Once at the bottom of the exit ramp, turn left towards Arezzo. Continue following signs for Arezzo.

At 39 kms,  in a little town called Le Ville, there is a dangerous intersection. You will be going uphill and suddenly there will be an intersection (with no warning) at which you have to stop. You will go left.

At 41.4 kms. there is a sign that says A1 Firenze 56.5 kms.

At 62 kms. there is a sign for Arezzo. Ignore this exit. Continue heading for A1 Firenze.

At 64.3 kms,  bear right for autostrada. This exit comes up on you really fast.

At 67.3 kms,  Turn right for A1 autostrada Firenze. Go slow as there is a blind Stop Light ahead.

At 75.6 kms,  is the entrance to the autostrada. Get in a line and take a ticket. Do Not get in a lane marked Telepass!!  It should take 1 hour to get to this point. Bear right to Firenze.

There are a couple gas stations along the autostrada before you get to the Firenze Sud exit. The last one, an ERG gas station with AUTOGRILL restaurant, is at 130 kms, just before you exit. If you fill up here, you will not use enough gas up to cause the tank needle to move before turning in the rental car.

At 133 kms,  is the exit for Florence Sud. Toll is 2.7 €.

If Going to the Airport:
At 153 kms. is the Firenze Nord exit. You will bear left. The toll is 3.30 €.

Follow the signs for A11 or the airport (Vespucci).

At 160 kms,  you will see the airport to your left. You have to go past and make a hairpin U-turn to get back to it.
