Rooms & 2010 Rates
Because El Marsam is a small, family-run B&B, we are able to provide a warm and personal welcome to our guests, see to their individual needs and make their stays comfortable and their holidays memorable. El Marsam is a centuries-old converted farmhouse that we continue to embellish with Ginda's art, as well as make improvements for the enjoyment of our guests. While we have endeavored to maintain its charming simplicity, we like to think of our home as elegantly rustic.
We have created a cozy sitting room where we invite our guests to sit and read. It is a perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine, good company or a good book. An extensive library of travel guides to Italy with particular emphasis on the Umbria and Tuscany regions is available on loan for your enjoyment during your stay. We have also put together a book of day trip suggestions, including directions, restaurant and shopping suggestions. Xerox copies of these day trip itineraries are available to take with you on your daily excursions.
El Marsam has three double rooms and one studio. The two downstairs rooms with double beds have vaulted terracotta ceilings and are furnished with country pieces and original paintings. They are adjoining rooms making them perfect for families or friends traveling together - and are not rented out to guests who do not know each other, ensuring each visitor privacy and comfort. A newly remodeled bath is shared by these two rooms and features hand-painted tile-work and a mural of Botticelli’s Three Graces.
Another double room upstairs, serene and romantic, is beautifully appointed in fine antiques, with original paintings on the walls. It has a newly renovated bath, private and luxurious, with both tub and shower. While soaking in a soothing bath, guests can rest their eyes on Ginda's fresco of Roman bathers, a delightful addition to this Roman-inspired bath of stone and ancient terracotta.
The Nile Studio
The studio was once just that – Ginda's art studio. Featuring an exquisite hand-painted mural of the majestic Nile, it is tastefully furnished. A new bathroom is tiled in ancient terracotta and also painted with Egyptian motifs. It has a washer and dryer for guest use at no extra charge. The Studio can accommodate guests in a queen-size bed that can be separated into two singles if needed. In season, its private entrance passes under a canopy of wisteria, and the back opens up to a little patio that looks out onto the woods.
