Deeply Rooted, in faith & family

Click here for detailsMore than an entertaining travelogue, Deeply Rooted is a story that examines the value of family, the courage of the human spirit and the grace of growing older. In it, Ginda explores the familiar terrain of Tuscany and Umbria, with an artist's eye for color and texture. She tells the story of the Calabrian peasant and his family, and how their solid strength, unwavering faith and gentle humor color their world and that of all who are fortunate enough to spend time in their warm presence It is a book that will make readers long for a simpler, slower life, at the same time that it encourages them to pursue their dream.

Italian-Americans will no doubt feel a sense of intrinsic pride for the heritage they share with the author. The author's grandfather was only one of the millions of young, hard-working, faith-filled men and women who came and contributed to the building of our strong nation by first building strong families. Heartfelt narratives of family and traditional values, regardless of ethnic backgrounds, nurture a basic need for stories that warm the heart. Deeply Rooted whispers to the soul.

In addition, Deeply Rooted is the story of life after lay-off. What does one do when a life-long career ends abruptly due to mergers and cutbacks? Employee down-sizing is epidemic and millions of vital, hard-working men and women in their early fifties face this question in increasing numbers every year. One can accept enforced early retirement as a gift, make life-style changes and pursue one's dream. This book is the author's confirmation that "down-sizing" need not cut down the size of one's self-worth or one's dream.

An accomplished painter for over twenty years, Ginda has exhibited her work internationally and her paintings are in numerous private collections. In 1997, her first book, entitled Morning of Light was published in Cairo. It is a personal journal of stories and paintings of her life in Egypt where she had lived with her husband and children for several years. In conjunction with its publication, an exhibition of her Egyptian paintings opened at the American University of Cairo. Her travels, which she records with an artist's eye for visual details, continually enrich her work, enabling her to write with clarity and feeling. It has been said of Ginda's work: "Her paintings tell stories; her stories paint pictures." Ginda and her husband now reside in Umbria, where the tranquil beauty of the Italian countryside never ceases to inspire both her writing and her painting.
