A Day Trip to Florence from El Marsam
If traveling to Italy during peak tourist season, it is advisable to make reservations for the museums 10-14 days in advance, on line http://www.florenceart.it/ and pay for them by credit card. In this way you will be able to enter directly into the museum (entries every 15 minutes). Otherwise, the wait can be up to two hours. You may also check on train schedules at http://www.trenitalia.com/
Suggested Itinerary 6:30 a.m. Early wake-up 7:00 a.m. Early breakfast at El Marsam 7:25 a.m. Leave for the Terontola train station (a 50 minute drive). Purchase a round-trip ticket to Firenze (Florence). Be sure to validate your ticket by punching it in the appropriate machine near ticket counter or by train tracks. 8:25 a.m. Train departs for Florence 9:51 a.m. Train arrives in Florence. Head directly for the museums of your choice or wander the streets and take in all the beauty of Florence. 1-2 a.m. Try to plan you lunch around this time as restaurants do close for the siesta. However, there are many bars that serve sandwiches, etc. throughout the day. Be sure to have some gelato! If you stroll towards the central market, this is a great area for a quick bite and some shopping before catching the train back. 5:09 p.m. Trains leave the station every hour at these times and takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to arrive at Terontola. 6:35 p.m. Arrive Terontola 7:35 p.m. Arrive back at El Marsam.
